John's Inspiration

“Intrigue” is about that familiar feeling of being watched—by a bird, of course. Whether we’re out in the yard, sitting on the deck, or tossing out snacks, the birds always seem curious about what we’re up to.

This little guy is inspired by those inquisitive looks they give us, equal parts curious and cautious. I love to embellish some of their features, giving them a slightly human quality to reflect the behavior that reminds me so much of us—observing, pondering, and always a little hesitant to get too close.
