John's Inspiration
Sometimes, the most random thoughts pop into my head while I’m painting. I started thinking about kids who grew up wanting pets but weren’t allowed to have them.
In this case, it's about someone who always dreamed of having a pet bird and now has one—a bird named Gary. The words on the painting reflect that journey: “Mother never allowed pets. But that was then, & this is now. I love you Gary.”
The title of the piece, Resolving Solitude, speaks to the companionship and joy we find in the little things, like having a feathered friend to share life with. It’s a nod to those quiet victories and the fulfillment that comes from creating the life you’ve always wanted.
