John's Inspiration

I’ve always loved painting barn swallows. There’s something mesmerizing about the way they move—swooping and gliding, making tight turns and low dives with effortless grace. Watching them skim over fields feels like witnessing poetry in motion. After their flight, they perch and rest, their iridescent colors glowing in the sunlight, creating a moment of quiet beauty. It takes me back to a camping trip with my family in Bend, Oregon, where we spent hours in a big open meadow, watching their aerial acrobatics and trying to take photos of them. Most of the pictures turned out blurry, but the memory lives on.
