"The Scale and Speed of Time": Fine Art Print by John Osgood
This painting started with the hummingbird. They move so fast that most of the time you only catch a blur, but when you slow down and really look at one, the colors and details are wild. I wanted to mix that feeling with the idea of time passing in layers. That’s where the roses and cut-out shapes come in… little snapshots, almost like pieces of different moments stacked together.
The bird sits right between motion and pause which feels so much like being a parent. Time stopping when things are difficult and you feel like you're trudging through it and then the next minute in a blink of an eye, you are at sonic speed and your kid is graduating from high school.
